The 35th Annual Weld Legacy Foundation Gala, Glitz, Glam & Gold, presented by Chevron, was held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Greeley at Lincoln Park. With 400 guests in attendance at the sold-out event, over $310,000 net proceeds were raised for A Woman’s Place Capital Campaign for a new domestic violence shelter. Phase One will double the size of the existing safehouse with 16 bedrooms; eight single and eight family rooms, all of which are ADA accessible; individual bathrooms; a kitchen and dining area; laundry area; a living room area with a technology center; two playrooms; secured outdoor play area; two intake rooms; storage; and increased security. Phase Two will include an adjacent office building which will provide prevention education and crisis advocacy for non-residents.
The 1930s themed event was met with much enthusiasm as guests dressed in Hollywood era glamour as they were transported to the Glitz, Glam & Gold decorated ballroom through a Speakeasy entrance, which required a secret password to gain entry. The evening included prohibition era cocktails, wine, a gourmet dinner, desserts, and sweet and salty snacks. Former Denver Broncos running back Reggie Rivers emceed this year’s event, with fundraising activities including a whiskey and wine pull, “Ladies & Gents” drawings comprised of a Monarch Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk Package for Two; Louis Vuitton Satchel; and Blackstone 36” Griddle with Hood and a Side of Beef, and a paddle raise which included an opportunity to win a Chicago Trip for Two. There was dancing to Take Note Entertainment, just-for-fun gaming tables, and one lucky guest won a stunning necklace and earring suite donated by Weiss Jewelers valued at $5,000.
“As part of Weld Legacy Foundation’s capacity building services and our mission to promote excellence in health and education in Weld County, it was an honor to collaborate with A Woman’s Place and assist them with their fundraising goal,” said Diana Wood, Weld Legacy Foundation Development Program Director. “Discussion surrounding domestic violence is difficult, but unfortunately it needs to be had. We wanted our donors to understand the reality that many individuals face, but we also wanted the overall message of the evening to be Hope. By investing in this project, they are giving the gift of Hope to survivors and a chance for a better future. We have such a generous community of supporters who rose to this challenge, and we are truly grateful.”
