It was a hot day at the 42nd annual Weld Legacy Foundation Golf Tournament, but that didn’t keep the golfers away from supporting WLF and the Heart Safe City program.  The tournament held at the Greeley Country Club had 47 teams and raised over $36,000 in net proceeds.

Golfers, sponsors, and volunteers participated in the popular double shotgun scramble. Taking home top honors from the tournament was the Poudre Valley Capital team, consisting of Casey Lauer, Bret Weigle, Brian Franzen, and Matt Sneddon. There was also a Hole-in-One from Eric Slade on Hole #7 who won a trip for two to North Carolina.

“The support of our community is always something to behold.  We had several new sponsors join us this year, and many returning sponsors as well.” said Allison Miller, Weld Legacy Foundation Development Program Director and Tournament Director for the Weld Legacy Foundation Golf Tournament. “A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers who made this day great and successful in raising funds for Heart Safe City.  Their gift of time is very much appreciated.”

The Heart Safe City designation is a community-wide effort to educate citizens on the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest. Identifying symptoms, learning how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and using automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are major components of the Heart Safe City designation. The Heart Safe City initiative called for the placement of AEDs in public gathering spots throughout our community. These easy-to-use AEDs are equipped with simple step-by-step user instructions.

The Weld Legacy Foundation, founded in 1975, has served as a philanthropic partner in supporting healthcare in the community. During that time, the Foundation has been entrusted with over $50 million in charitable gifts.
